Consumer Fraud
Consumer fraud describes any intentionally deceptive act, statement or practice by a company that harms consumers. Consumer fraud occurs in many different industries and businesses.
Consumers are bombarded with messages to purchase items every day. Sometimes they are persuaded by a creative ad campaign or the product’s packaging. Some companies label their products as being “all natural” or containing “nothing artificial” to promote a wholesome and healthful image so people will buy—and often pay more—for them. Upon closer examination, our attorneys found that many of the ingredients in products labeled as “all natural” are synthetic or do not exist naturally.
Consumer laws are designed to create fair standards of conduct for businesses to follow. Those laws often provide remedies for people who are harmed by unlawful, unfair, unsafe or deceptive practices. By bringing suit on behalf of a group of people who have all been similarly harmed, class actions give consumers a way to force companies to live up to their claims and labeling. Our consumer team has worked with hundreds of consumers to convince companies to change misleading and illegal labels, to halt deceptive marketing and sales tactics, and to face consequences for engaging in fraud. We have helped people who have purchased products such as home goods and household cleaners, building materials, food and beverages, clothing and footwear, and wellness and nutrition products.
Our class action attorneys successfully fight for the rights of consumers. They would be pleased to discuss your concerns with consumer products and violations of federal consumer fraud statutes, at no cost or obligation.
